The Central MVD museum (Internal Affair Ministry=Police Museum)
Location: Moscow, Seleznevskaya str., 11/1 (Novoslobodskaya metro-st.)

Open: Monday -Friday
Museum is located in the former Russian Empire police-department old building (built in 1779 ). After the 1812- Napoleonic War fire, the new house was built in 1846 year. The new building (see the image) had the Fire-post, telegraph, prison and the police officer rooms.
The MVD Museum was founded in 1970, but the exposition was completed in 1981 year.
Museum collection has the items of all historical period, including the after-revolution time, NKVD, World War II, the Cold War era and the history the modern Russian Crime ("Russian mafia").
Mostly, the items are dedicated to the Crimes and the anti-crime units: the documents, awards, small arms (regular and the home-made), the personal belongings of the famous officers and the crime authorities.
There are the special sections about the WWII, the Fire service, transportation department and even ....the co-operation with Interpol
Note, that Police museum is located in the same area as the Central Armed Forces Museum
